THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION AND STUDENTS’ ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT MAS BUSTANUL ULUM TANJUNG JABUNG TIMUR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2019/2020

The objectives of this study are to find out (1) the significant correlation between students‟ motivation and students‟ English achievement (2) the contribution of students‟ motivation toward students‟ English achievement. The research design was correlational study. All of the students of Islamic senior high school (MAS) Bustanul Ulum academic year 2019/2020 were the population with the total number 90 students. The writer used total sampling which means that sample is 90 students. The data were collected by questionnaire about students’ motivation and score of mid test about students’ achievement. The findings of the study showed that 57% students have medium motivation. Then the result of students’ English achievement showed that 71 % of 90 students have medium achievement of their English. Then, the results showed that the coefficient correlation was r=0.93 It means that those variables students’ motivation and students’ English achievement are positively correlated. The significance value is bigger than Tt or > rt = 0.93 > 0.1745 it means that Null hypothesis (Ho) rejected and Alternative hypothesis (Ha) accepted. It showed that both of the students’ motivation and students’ English achievement are significant correlated. The result regression analysis found that R Square 86.49%, it means 86.49% students’ motivation contribute to the students’ English achievement
