Nayantara Sahgal is a social and political novelist par excellence. She is well-known for her outstanding ability of coalescing artistically social, political, and personal events and incidents. Even a cursory reading may reveal that they depict the scene of the Indian politics from the last episodes of the freedom struggle to the disintegration in the mid-Seventies, in a sequence, the occurrence of the events.
