Abstract The struggle between the dominant patriarchal group and the oppressed Others that includes women and nature is a matter of great concern and ecofeminists are voicing against this dualistic androcentric approach. Alice Walker is a champion of the doubly oppressed Black women and in her fiction Now Is the Time to Open Your Heart, Walker journeys woman’s search for identity through connection with nature. The ecofeminist spiritual inclination in the fiction is mapped out through self-discovery, spirituality, relation to nature and ancestors as well as involvement in the struggle for social and economic justice
