The issue of failure in literacy in the Brazilian school worries and generates several studies in the area. This article discusses the issue of literacy within the Institutional Scholarship Initiative Program - Pibid, among the graduates of the Pedagogy Course of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul in Campo Grande. The focus is the practices worked with students from first to third year of elementary education in the literacy phase, raised from the application of a questionnaire sent to ten Pibid graduates. Participants, all women and beginner teachers, pointed out that they worked with play activities, games and dynamics, such as a line of letters, mobile alphabet, and book produced with stories created by the students.
