With the objective of examining the contribution of universities and federal institutes in the Northern Region of Brazil to the development of information competence in coping with the Covid-19 pandemic, this study discusses information competence in the context of higher education considering the reconfigured society scenario by the Covid-19 pandemic, mapping the actions of these spaces for the development of information competence in combating the pandemic. With regard to methodological procedures, this study is exploratory and descriptive in terms of its objectives and uses a qualitative approach when describing the practices examined and identified in the universities and institutes under analysis.
