In today’s education system, only a few comparative studies address how intervention plans are createdand implemented, and how they may differ. We conducted a comparative analysis to shed light on thedifferent functions of the individualized education plan (IEP) in Canada’s ten provinces and threeterritories. A content analysis of mandatory legal documents, policies, and reference materials was thusperformed following the identification of seven specific functions related to this specific education plan.Our results show that these functions were similar across the country, except for the function ofidentification.
