In this article, we analyze the daily reality of men who, whilst still of working age, take the decision to abandon their professional activities to dedicate themselves to caring for their dependent wives or dependent adult children. These are men who have prioritized care and who act as caregivers in the family setting, combining the resources made available to them by the market, the public sector or community social initiatives. We understand that an unexpected event that affects health raises specific questions regarding the provision of care and the role of the caregiver.
