FRECUENCIA RELATIVA DE DERMATITIS CANINA EN TRES CLÍNICAS VETERINARIAS DEL DISTRITO DE MAGDALENA DEL MAR, LIMA, PERÚ

Dermatological diseases are a common reason for consultation in the daily veterinary clinic being one of the diseases that most aff ect canines in Peru. Th e present study aimed to determine which type of dermatitis is most frequent in canines (Canis familiaris L.) of the Lima district of Magdalena del Mar, Lima, Peru, for which the types of dermatitis diagnosed by race, sex and age of the canines of the district were determined. A total of 4231 clinical records were collected from three veterinary clinics in the district of Magdalena del Mar, from a total of 13 clinics located in the district. Th e clinical records considered in this study were those from February 2011 to January 2015, of which only 1915 records corresponded to dogs with residence in the district. Th e data taken from these clinical records were race, sex, age, year of diagnosis of the dermatological disease and type of dermatitis. We found 538 new cases of dermatitis corresponding to the number of males of 273 (50.74%) and that of females of 265 (49.26%). Th e results indicated that the most common dermatitis was infectious dermatitis with 248 cases (46.1%) and within this category, bacteria (113 cases, representing 45.56% within its category). Secondly, allergic dermatitis was found by fl ea bites, with 91 cases, representing 55.15% within its category. On the other hand, it was observed that it is more common for males to develop dermatitis (50.74%) and that it occurs more in mixed-breed dogs (29%). Regarding age, the group with the highest relative frequency were dogs older than 10 years with 194 cases (36.1%).Las enfermedades dermatológicas son motivo común de consulta en la clínica veterinaria diaria siendo una de las dolencias que más afectan a los caninos en el Perú. Con el presente estudio se buscó determinar cuál es el tipo de dermatitis más frecuente en caninos (Canis familiaris L.) del distrito limeño de Magdalena del Mar, Lima, Perú, para lo cual se determinaron los tipos de dermatitis diagnosticados según raza, sexo y edad de los caninos del distrito. Con tal fin se recolectaron un total de 4231 fichas clínicas de tres clínicas veterinarias del distrito de Magdalena del Mar, de un total de 13 clínicas ubicadas en el distrito. Las fichas clínicas consideradas en este estudio fueron aquellas comprendidas entre febrero del 2011 hasta enero del 2015, de las cuales solo 1915 correspondían a canes con residencia en el distrito. Los datos tomados de dichas fichas clínicas fueron raza, sexo, edad, año de diagnóstico de la enfermedad dermatológica y tipo de dermatitis. Se encontraron 538 casos nuevos de dermatitis correspondiendo la cantidad de machos de 273 (50,74%) y el de hembras de 265 (49,26%). Los resultados indicaron que la dermatitis más común fue la dermatitis infecciosa con 248 casos (46,1%) y dentro de esta categoría, las bacterias (113 casos, representando el 45,56% dentro de su categoría). En segundo lugar, se encontró la dermatitis alérgica por picadura de pulga, con 91 casos, representando el 55,15% dentro de su categoría. Por otro lado, se observó que es más frecuente que los machos desarrollen dermatitis (50,74%) y que se dé más en perros cruzados (29%). En cuanto a la edad el grupo con mayor frecuencia relativa fueron los perros mayores de 10 años con 194 casos (36,1%)
