This research focused on the effect of Using Keyword Method on students’ vocabulary mastery at grade VIII of MTs Negeri Batangtoru. The students’ problems in vocabulary were: 1) students’ low in vocabulary, 2) students less interest the teacher’s method, 3) students still use mother tongues in the classroom. Finally, the students were difficult in every fields of their learning process such as listening, speaking, reading and writing.
