Reducing fossil fuel demand has become a more critical issue within the sustainable development agenda due to the rising concerns about recent climate change. Urban areas currently consume over two-thirds of the world's energy and account for more than 75% of the anthropogenic emissions. In today’s context, tackling climate change and minimizing its impacts require to act urgently and effectively towards reducing energy-related emissions in urban areas. As microcosms and living labs, university campuses are the best possible settings for exploring and practicing sustainability issues.
