This study focuses on the late 19th and early 20th century urban transformation of Ankara as exemplified in the development of the axis connecting the train station to the city center. The temporal scope of the research starts with the 1890s when the train station was constructed and its connection with the city was established, and ends at the turn of the 1930s until when a number of buildings were erected on the İstasyon Caddesi axis, and when Jansen’s proposal for the development plan of Ankara started to be implemented.
