Web services introduce a new paradigm for distributed computing, and the technology that it introduces constructs a new type of Web application. Web services can be described as any software that makes its discovery and invocation available over the Internet, and uses a standardized XML messaging system. The term peer-to-peer refers to a class of decentralized systems enabling the access of shared resources available on peers that are acting both as client and as server.
