The aim of the thesis is to analyze the transformation of the Turkish welfare regime in the framework of the social security reforms and the effect of the individual pension system on both this transformation and women’s welfare considering the gender gap in retirement. While there is a growing literature on Turkey’s social security reform, there are only few studies on the gender dimension of social security and the gender effects of the reform.
