A comparison of job satisfaction between public and private university academicians in Turkey

The purpose of this study is to investigate the job satisfaction of public and private university academicians with respect to ten satisfaction dimensions and to determine the relative difference in job satisfaction levels between public and private university academicians. The findings indicate that while academicians appear to be fairly satisfied with their jobs, there may be aspects of their jobs from which they derive some dissatisfaction. The empirical analysis indicates that public and private university academicians differ significantly with respect to the levels of satisfaction that they derive from many aspects of their jobs. Sources of these differences are identified, and the general conclusion is that, private university academicians’ job satisfaction is higher in many respects than that of academicians working at public universities.Publisher's Versio
