Osmanlılar ve doğa, peyzaj ve doğada yaşam

Ottomans created an understanding of and approach to nature which was unique to themselves in their history. Since the design notions of the Ottomans evolved throughout their history according to the cultural and socio political dynamics of different periods, and since the Ottoman Empire spread over three continents, this research concentrates on the early and the rising- period of the empire; the period between the fourteenth and the seventeenth centuries, and on those areas in Anatolia and Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, in order to better understand the background of Turkish culture. In this vein, landscape, architecture and life in the open-air are the areas of interests of this research. The aim is to present the Ottoman conceptions of nature cultivated especially by the ruling elite, Ottoman understanding of settlements in nature, understandings of their landscape and garden design, how they transformed a part of nature to their cultural spaces and how they socialized and entertained in nature and in their gardens. Briefly, this thesis intends to analyze the unique understanding of nature of the Ottomans within the Islamic tradition, focusing on the conditions in which the 111Ottoman conception of nature developed and created the idiosyncrasy of this cultural microcosm.Osmanlılar, tarihlerinde kendilerine özgü bir doğa ve doğaya yaklaşım anlayışı geliştirmişlerdir. Osmanlıların tasarım nosyonları tarihleri içerisinde farklı periyotların kültürel ve sosyo-politik dinamiklerine bağlı olarak geliştiği ve değiştiği için ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu üç kıtaya yayıldığı için, bu araştırma 'erken' ve Yükselme Dönemi'ne, on dört ve on yedinci yüzyıllar arasındaki dönem, ve Türk kültürünün geçmişini daha iyi anlayabilmek için Anadolu ve İstanbul'a odaklanmıştır. Buna bağlı olarak, peyzaj, mimarlık ve açık havada yaşam bu araştırmanın çalışma alanlarıdır. Bu tezin amacı özellikle yönetici sınıf tarafından geliştirilen Osmanlı doğa kavrayışlarını, Osmanlıların doğada yerleşim anlayışlarını, Osmanlıların peyzaj ve bahçe tasarım nosyonlarını, doğa parçalarını nasıl kendi kültürel mekanları haline getirdiklerini ve doğada ve bahçelerinde nasıl sosyalleştiklerini ve eğlendikleri göstermektir. Kısaca, bu tez Osmanlıların doğa kavrayışlarının geliştiği toplumsal durumlar ve şartlara odaklanarak, tüm İslami gelenek içerisinde Osmanlıların biricik doğa anlayışlarının nasıl geliştiğini ve bu kültürel evrenin, mikrokosmun, kendine özgü özelliklerinin nasıl yaratıldığını anlamayı amaçlar
