This paper illustrates how the equivalent circuit parameters of an induction motor can be predicted from a 2D numerical field solution of the magnetic field. The approach presented requires a circuit-coupled 2D harmonic solution of the field (accounting for saturation) under no load and rated slip conditions. These solutions take only some minutes on a modern computer and are very suitable for the design office where quick solutions are much preferred as the effects of design changes can be quickly assessed.
