This research entitled “The Analysis of Interruption in Same Sex and Different Sex Conversations in Ellen Degeneres Show”. It aims to find out the purposes of interruption by using Murata (1994) and Zhao & Gantz (2003) theories and to analyze the linguistic features employed in interruptions in same sex and different sex conversation by utilizing Tannen (1990) and Lakoff (1975) theories. This research uses a sociolinguistic approach and qualitative method in analyzing the data. Additionally, the data of this research are taken from eight videos of TheEllenShow Youtube channel containing interruptions and linguistic features in same sex and different sex conversations based on a movie theme.
