ACTIVITY OF ETHYL ACETATE OF SAMBILOTO HERB (Andrographis paniculata) TO ACNE CAUSED BY Propionibacterium acnes Rizki Amalia Husada, Eka prasasti Nur Rachmani, Rehana Background: Acne is one of many skin problem that characterized by inflammation in the polysebaseus unit with the appearance of blackheads, papules, pustules, and nodules which is commonly experienced by teenagers. One of the most common acne is caused by Propionibacterium acnes. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethyl acetate fraction of sambiloto herbs (Andrographis paniculata) against Propionibacterium acnes. Method: Sambiloto herbs extracted using methanol by maceration method for 3x24 hours, then fractionated using n-hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate solvents. Phytochemical screening was carried out on ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) of sambiloto herbs. Furthermore, antibacterial activity test was carried out against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The results of the test were analyzed descriptively and one way ANOVA statistical test. Results: The color changes in phytochemical screening result showed the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids, and alkaloids in EAF sambiloto herbs. The concentrations of 25%, 20%, 15%, 10%, and 5% EAF sambiloto herbs have antibacterial activity in the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria with inhibitory zones respectively 11,16 mm, 11,5 mm, 10, 91 mm, 9,3 mm, and 8.4 mm.
