Determinants of Poverty in East Java Metropolitan Area Period 2010-2016 (Case Study in Gerbang Kertosusila Area)

This research entitle “Determinants of Poverty in East Java Metropolitan Area Period 2010-2016 (Case Study in Gerbangkertosusila Area”. The aims of research is to know the determinants of poverty such as per capita GRDP, inflation, health, employment opportunities and education in Gerbangkertosusila Area Period 2010-2016 and also to know the trend of poverty. Type of this research is descriptive quantitative with secondary data from 7 regency and city in Gerbangkertosusila Area, namely Gresik Regency, Bangkalan Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Mojokerto City, Surabaya City, Sidoarjo Regency, and Lamongan Regency. Based on result of research by using regression analysis of panel data random effect model, shows that per capita GRDP, health, employment opportunities and education has a negative significant impact on poverty in Gerbangkertosusila Area period 2010-2016, whereas inflation has a negative no significant impact on poverty in Gerbangkertosusila Area. This research shows that employment opportunities is the most determinant of poverty in Gerbangkertosusila Area and according to trend analysis result, poverty in Gerbangkertosusila Area for 5 years ahead that year 2017 until 2021 has a decrease trend. Based on the above results, to overcome poverty in the Gerbangkertosusila Area needs to be an expansion of employment opportunities by increasing and equitable investment in each regency and city, increasing attention to education by ensuring that no children drop out, optimize education budgets, increase higher education scholarships, improve the quality of health services, establish synergies between regency and city and optimize every policy that has been implemented
