Tempe is one of Indonesian indigenous soybean-based fermentation products that involves Rhizopus spp. during the fermentation process. Several studies reported that bacterial belong to Burkholderia spp. forming endosymbiotic association with mycelium of R. microsporus. These bacteria have been detected capable to produce mycotoxins namely rhizonin and rhizoxin.
