Bevacizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody, binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and inhibits its interaction with receptors found on endothelial cells. Bevacizumab has been increasingly used as an off-label treatment for exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
