A two-dimensional, vertically-averaged boundary fitted coordinate pollutant transport model was developed for application to estuarine and coastal sea regions. The governing convective-diffusion was solved on a space-staggered grid system using a simple forward-in-time, center-in-space, explicit finite difference algorithm. The computational characteristics and accuracy of the model were tested by comparing the numerical results with corresponding analytic solutions for a series of test cases. The pollutant transport model was applied to predict the fecal coliform discharged from sewage treatment plant and combined sewer overflow releases in Mt. Hope Bay; a small urban estuary located on the eastern side of Narragansett Bay
