Abstract Background: Registered nurses in the emergency department (ED) are subjected to negative patient interactions and sometimes active violence, which may lead to decreased job satisfaction and increased nursing turnover. Purpose: To synthesize and summarize published evidence on the relationship between workplace violence, job satisfaction and turnover among registered nurses working in the ED. Methods: We used the PRISMA checklist to guide our search of electronic databases for studies published between 2011 and 2021.
