Investigating Predictors of Hypoglycemia

The research focuses on analyzing incidence of hypoglycemia in preterm infants in various neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) around the United States to determine patterns and find methods of identifying or diagnosing infants with hypoglycemia. There are various definitions for diagnosing hypoglycemia based on blood glucose levels. The researchers were interested in determining (1) whether or not it matters which blood glucose definitions for diagnosing hypoglycemia is chosen for prediction models and (2) which predictors affect the incidence of hypoglycemia.
