Assessment of absenteeism of the nursing staff in the hospital context of a public emergency room

Objective: To analyze absenteeism among the nursing staff of an Emergency Room at a Public Teaching Hospital in the Federal District. Method: His is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 29 nursing professionals working in the Emergency Room of a Regional Hospital Public in the Federal District. An instrument was used to characterize the study population and identify factors related to absenteeism. Results: Evidenced that 75.9% were nursing technicians and 24.1% nurses, the factors related to absenteeism 58% sick leave and medical certificates. The main internal factors that contributed to absenteeism related to pain (p≤0.039) were internal factors related to the institution, not having care materials, lack of team members, constantly feeling tired, overloaded, and working with a reduced team. Conclusion: The factors identified by the institution and those related to employees and pain should be analyzed in the occupational scenario in order to contribute to the elaboration of the situational diagnosis and intervene in determining factors. With a view to contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the nursing team in the labor and personal spheres.
