Ph.D.Glioblastoma, also known as Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most lethal and frequent brain tumor. Despite the most advanced therapy, GBM recurs frequently. Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is a tumor suppressor gene whose alteration is one of the most frequent events in human cancers. PTEN possesses a lipid phosphatase activity and negatively regulates the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway.
