Objective: This study aimed to investigate the HIV-preventive behavior of a group of female prostitutes in the city of Ubon Ratchathani in Northeast Thailand. Methods: Basic knowledge and perceptions regarding HIV/AIDS were also assessed. The relationship between knowledge, perception, educational levels and HIV-preventive behavior were identified. A questionnaire was trialed before the survey proper, and content validation and reliability were established prior to the launch of the study (average α= 0.75). Results: Information was collected by the completion of a descriptive survey by 293 female prostitutes from 35 entertainment centres from February to April 2005.
