The overall aim of this article is to provide knowledge on the importance of organisation as a strategic factor in creating innovative models of governing territories following disasters. More specifically, the effort is to understand if local communities, damaged by disasters, could still benefit from places and spaces for action and, at the same time, are able to take contingent measures to build resilience (Mitchell et al., 2013).
