Leopardi’s reflections on the notion of ‘infinity’ closely concern not just the field of poetry and the theory of pleasure, but also the language and status of words. These thoughts are developed in a broader theory of human knowledge, in which the observations on aesthetics and stylistics are also coherently included. Leop-ardi’s gnoseological perspective places the imagination in a central position.
