Emerging Technologies towards Energy- Efficient Built Environment Future in Egypt

–Building’s sector is one of the major parts of the built environment, influencing most of the people’s day-to-day life factors, it is responsible for 40% and 30% of global energy used and the annual greenhouse gas emissions, respectively. Energy interacts with all sectors and it is the core of the development processes. Egypt pays considerable attention to energy efficiency issues, as well as it is one of the prime strategical goals of the 2030 national sustainable development vision. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) that is emerged upon of digital revolution, and data exchange, it is reforming our future and affect the innovation and emerging technologies that improve all life including our buildings. Thus, this presentation aims to highlight some of the emerging technologies' roles in reforming the built environment's energy future in Egypt with a particular focus on the building sector, as a catalyst for innovation among different stakeholders. A set of emerging technologies application in the buildings industry will be investigated theoretically starting from the early design stage, construction, retrofitting, and operation, such as- but not limited to, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Building Envelope, Big Data, Smart Environment, and emerging renewable energy technologies. Then the best practices from international experiences will be shown, to emphasize the environmental and economic benefits. The role of stockholders will be highlighted, namely, researchers and postgraduate students, engineers, architects, services providers, private sector, end-users, and decision- makers. Finally, and beyond the technical solutions, a transdisciplinary collaboration among actors in energy efficiency will be suggested
