This writing deals with the appointment of the Commission in year 2019 and the with the respective role of the Parliament and of the European Council in determining the composition of the new Commission. It argues that the unilateral choice of the future President of the Commission seems to have been inspired by the desire of the heads of State or Government of the Member States to re-take the full lead, at the expense of the European Parliament
