One of the reasons why this volume has been conceived is to show the importance of the interdisciplinary work to progress in any fields of study. It reflects the ideas underlying a Marie Sklodowska Curie Project entitled "Tibeta Book Evolution and Technology (TiBET), and a correlated AHRC project entitled "Transforming Technologies and Buddhist Book Culture: The Introduction of Printing and Digital Text Reproduction in Tibetan Societies" (TTBBC, 2010-2015) which were both carried out at Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit, University of Cambridge.
