Children’s stress in preschool

Abstract The aim of this study is to examine preschool teachers' thoughts and perspectives on stress in preschool children. This study is based on a socio-cultural perspective primarily on the psychologist Lev Vygotskilj. This perspective focuses on interaction and communication and its significance for children’s development and learning. The study is based on a qualitative method where interviews have been done with preschool teachers. This method provides an opportunity to find out an in-depth plan about stress in preschool and what strategies were used to prevent stress in preschool. The results show that children go through stress when adults are stressed. The preschool teachers believe that the main reason why children go through stress is all about how adults choose to handle situations that are perceived as stressful
