Globally, 37.8 million people were living with human immunodeficiency virus and acquire immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in 2018, with 1.7 million new cases reported and 57% receiving antiretroviral therapies. Nearly 76,000,000 people have been diagnosed with HIV and an estimated 33,000,000 people have died of HIV/AIDS since the beginning of the epidemic.
