Un fragment des Histoires de Salluste évoque un siège mené par L. Catilina legatus. Cet épisode a étéattribué pendant longtemps à la guerre civile de 83-82 ou aux opérations en Italie qui s’ensuivirent. Cet articlevise à réexaminer le problème, en tenant compte du contenu du premier livre des Histoires et de certains fauxprésupposés qui caractérisent plusieurs reconstructions modernes. Il propose d’identifier le contexte le plusprobable de ce siège avec le tumultus Lepidi de 78-77.
