Trois exemples d'ascension sociale aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles : les familles Latard, Gantelet et Goddet

All the three families studied in this workpaper have served the prince, held a preeminent social position and benefited from the Fortune (i.e. wealth and good chances that they cleverly took). These factors helped them to access to the nobility (gentry for the Latard family, higher nobility for the Gantelet family, interrupted social advancement for the Goddet family). These interesting examples, that can be studied through several generations, show how social mobility was significant during XVIth and XVIIth centuries in Savoy, where ennoblement didn't relied only on ducal official acts.Le service du prince et une position sociale prééminente, étayée par la Fortune (richesse et opportunités habilement saisies), constituent le dénominateur commun des trois familles qui font l'objet de cette étude. Ces facteurs sont à l'origine de leur accession à la noblesse (petite noblesse pour la famille Latard, haute noblesse pour la famille Gantelet et ascension interrompue pour la famille Goddet). Ces cas exemplaires, examinés sur plusieurs générations, montrent la grande mobilité sociale des XVIe et XVIIe siècles en Savoie, où l'anoblissement ne passe pas nécessairement par des lettres patentes du souverain
