A study of several industrial heat demand identified several industries with favourable conditions for the use of solar energy, the most important industrial processes using heat at moderate temperatures are: sterilization, pasteurization, drying, hydrolysis, distillation and evaporation, rinsing and cleaning and polymerization. The study describes some important processes and the temperature range required for each of them. In this paper, a model of a solar water-heated drying device for drying ginger (Zungiber) root and other medicinal plants has been developed and studied experimentally.
