TERRORISMO MARÍTIMO: ANÁLISIS DESDE EL CONVENIO SUA

This article presents the study of terrorism in the maritime sector, from a normative standpoint, which is regulated by an international treaty called “Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation” or “SUA Convention”. Firstly, the most important clauses of the treaty defining the acts of maritime terrorism, as well as its history and scope are analyzed. Next, the most significant cases of terrorist attacks at sea that fit the codes the SUA Convention are exposed.A través de este artículo, desde un enfoque normativo, se estudia el fenómeno del terrorismo en el ámbito marítimo, el cual se encuentra regulado en un tratado internacional denominado “Convenio para la Represión de Actos Ilícitos Contra la Seguridad de la Navegación Marítima” o “Convenio SUA” (por sus siglas en inglés). Por un lado, se analizan las disposiciones más importantes de dicho tratado que definen las conductas de terrorismo marítimo, además de la historia de este convenio y el ámbito de aplicación del mismo. Por otro, se exponen los casos más trascendentales de ataques terroristas en el mar que se ajustan al concepto dado por dicho tratado
