The zooarchaeological analysis of marks on bird remains in archaeological sites requires the use of modern analogues. However, references to such studies are rare or even absent. The aim of thepresent work is to fill this gap in the literature by studying marks produced during the experimental butchery, preperation and consumption of grey partridge. Qualitatively, the analysis of the bone remains has shown that the level of information to be gained depends on the bone or bone segment concerned. Moreover, these experiments have provided evidence ofwrenching during disarticulation, burns from cooking and perforations due to both carcass disarticulation and consumption.
