Juventude e Sociologia no Ensino Médio:: origens sociais, representações e possibilidades de ensino

The social origins and representations of High School student youth in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, are the subjects of this article. The research’s problem consists in investigate who these young students are and how this knowledge can favor the Sociology teaching. The theoretical foundations are built on authors from the Sociology of Education and the Sociology of Youth, since they contain the triad, Sociology-young-education, the main reflections raised here. The empirical research is based on survey, with the application of questionnaires and the formation of a database containing the main characteristics of these students. From that empirical framework, the general profile of the students is reconstructed: 15 to 18 years old, mostly women, dark-skinned (parda), evangelicals and with family income of up to two minimum wages, whose ascendants also confer them social belongings. In addition, the students' representations about the school as well as their emotional difficulties are assessed. These variables allow the understanding of the social, economic and cultural origins of young students, with suggestive use to serve as a parameter for classes, notably in the Sociology ones, which integrates and consolidates in its programmatic content the social themes analyzed here.Este artigo trata das origens sociais e das representações da juventude estudantil do Ensino Médio da cidade de Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. O problema da pesquisa consiste em investigar quem são esses jovens e de que forma conhecê-los pode favorecer o ensino de Sociologia. Os fundamentos teóricos apresentados estão edificados em autores advindos da Sociologia da Educação e da Sociologia da Juventude, já que estas contêm a tríade, Sociologia-jovem-educação, que figura como linhas mestras das reflexões levantadas aqui. A pesquisa empírica está alicerçada em teor quantitativo, com a aplicação de questionários e formação de um banco de dados contendo as principais características desses discentes. Com base nesse quadro empírico, reconstrói-se o perfil geral dos estudantes: 15 a 18 anos de idade, maioria mulheres, pardas, evangélicas e com renda familiar até dois salários mínimos, cujos ascendentes também lhes conferem pertencimentos sociais. Adicionalmente, são avaliadas as representações dos estudantes acerca da escola, bem como suas dificuldades emocionais. Essas variáveis permitem a compreensão das origens sociais, econômicas e culturais dos jovens estudantes, com uso sugestivo para servir de parâmetro às aulas, notadamente as de Sociologia que integra e consolida em seu conteúdo programático os temas sociais ora analisados
