L'ŒUVRE, L'ARTISTE ET L'INFORMATICIEN Compétence et personnalité distribuées dans le processus de conception en art numérique

International audienceInternet artwork no longer refers to the concept of a finalized object, but rather to a dynamic process, a collective, open, and interactive device. Due to the increasing sophistication of tools, its design now requires hybrid skills. The necessary cooperation with computer analysts in order to create suitable programs thus brings about a status change of the artwork and the author. This paper presents an ethnographic case study of cooperation between a computer analyst and an artist. It is aimed at understanding the processes of shared design, negociated authorship, and artwork appropriation. From an analysis of the means of communication, of various technical media and "intermediary tools", we focus our attention on role allocation, task sharing, and artwork appropriation as it is modified throughout the creative process.L'œuvre d'art pour Internet ne correspond plus au concept d'objet achevé, mais s'inscrit davantage comme un processus, un dispositif collectif ouvert et interactif. Du fait de la sophistication croissante des outils, sa conception mobilise des compétences hybrides. La nécessité d'une coopération avec des informaticiens pour l'élaboration du programme informatique entraîne dans ce contexte un glissement des notions d'œuvre et d'auteur. Ce texte propose l'ethnographie située d'un cas de conception partagée entre l'artiste et l'informaticien. L'objectif visé est la compréhension des processus de conception distribuée, de désignation de l'œuvre et de son/ses auteur(s) par les différents partenaires de la conception. À partir d'une analyse des instruments du dialogue, des diverses médiations techniques et "objets intermédiaires", nous focalisons l'attention sur la répartition des rôles, le partage des tâches et les appropriations de l'œuvre aux différents moments de sa conception
