This report describes a series of simple experiments which measure theper-packet energy consumption of an IEEE 802.11 wireless network interface. The goal of this work is to develop a solid experimental basis for assumptions that can (or cannot) be made in the design and analysis of network protocols operating in the ad hoc wireless environment
