Bu çalışmada, idrar yolu enfeksiyonlarına neden olan, hastanelerde kullanılan antibiyotiklere karşı direnç geliştiren ve ESBL üretme yeteneğindeki Klebsiella spp. ve Pseudomonas spp. izolatlarına karşı kullanılan kimyasal antibiyotiklere alternatif olabilecek yeni doğal maddelerin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. 2010-2011 yılları arasında Nevşehir ilinde bulunan devlet hastanesi ve özel hastanelere müracaat eden idrar yolu enfeksiyonlu hastalardan alınan 18 Pseudomonas spp. ve 19 Klebsiella spp. izolatları arasından kullanılan antibiyotiklere karşı en dirençli olan 3'er izolat seçilmiştir.
