Stroke is one of the most important public health problem with a strong socio-economic impact worldwide, and is also a major cause of disability in highly developed countries [1, p. 189]. The current incidence of stroke and the lack of effective treatment measures have led to the need to deepen research regarding the risk factors for stroke. The analysis of the major risk factors for ischemic stroke reveals that an important part of them is represented by some of the defining components of the metabolic syndrome or closely related to it, such as: high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, physical inactivity, coronary disease, biological markers of inflammation [2, p. 753; 3, p. 70]
