The concept of reference domain seems essential for resolving references to objects, particularly in dialogue situations involving a shared visual environment. This concept allows to group in a homogeneous manner some heterogeneous constraints used when searching for referents. It also allows to prepare the interpretation of future references. The oppositions between the entities of the information structure are taken into account. Focussing phenomena are also taken into account, using the notion of salience.
