There are a lot of cases in real world where new technologies use a device (such as a camera or a sensor) to scan a point cloud from a real surface, in order to extract information of the geometry and make a processing of it. Then, it is used to obtain physical signals or to meet various human needs. To begin this processing, we first need to get a reconstruction of the surface from the point cloud. Nowadays, the methods use very complex steps and are based on a lot of mathematical tricks, but the resulting performance and efficience are awesome.
