Conjonctions de subordination et adverbes conjonctifs « focalisateurs » : les opérations en cause.

International audienceIn this paper, we present a unified hypothesis about «focusing» conjunctional adverbs andsubordinating conjunctions in French. A similar hypothesis is to be taken to hold at allromance languages as we argue after Piot (2003) mentioned above. At first, differences are tobe observed between this case (with “focus”) and another case in which the same conjunctionalitems are purely conjunctions (coordinating or subordinating, but without “focus”).Then, we point out which are the common semantic and syntactic properties of the global“focus” operation related to all these items (parallelism between sentences and nominalphrases correlated by these conjunctional items, inclusion or union semantic relationsbetween nominal phrases in some respects ensembles theory relations alike: the addition ofsyntactic-semantic specific items shares this inclusion or union relation). In particular, thisstudy highlights, as a result, the role of the subject nature of the conjoined first sentence andthe syntactic-semantic nature of the verb-phrase in the second sentence. Another study (toappear) will present the results about distinctions in this operation according to theparticular significance of each different item.Dans cet article, nous présentons une hypothèse unificatrice concernant à la fois des adverbes conjonctifs (coordonnants) et des conjonctions de subordination, tous éléments "focalisants". Nous faisons la même hypothèse pour l'ensemble des langues romanes comme nous l'avons proposé dans un précédent article (2003). En premier lieu, une différence doit être faite pour les items conjonctifs en question selon qu'ils conjoignent des phrases entières et sont alors des conjonctions (coordonnantes ou subordonnantes , sans focalisation). ensuite nous mettons en évidence les opérations sémantiques d'inclusion ou d'union (en termes ensemblistes) opérées par ces items ainsi que les contraintes syntaxiques (parallélisme entre phrases et groupes nominaux conjoints). Notre étude met en particulier en valeur le rôle de la nature sémantique du sujet de la première phrase conjointe et la nature syntactico-sémantique du groupe verbal de la seconde phrase conjointe. Un travail en préparation apportera des distinctions dans l'opération particulière effectuée par chacun de ces différents items
