This article is timed to the 100th anniversary of the Unifi cation of Bessarabia with the center in Chisinau and Romania proclaimted on March 27th, 1918. Based on archival materials and the press of that time the article presents a brief overview of the development of all major aspects of musical culture of romanian Bessarabia of the 20 – 30 of the XX century – concert life and perfomance, education and pedagogy, composition and individual portraits of outstanding personalities
