The aorta is the largest and most important artery in the human body, it is responsible for carrying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all other areas of the body. When a narrowing of this artery occurs, what is called aortic coarctation occurs, this causes the heart to pump with more force to be able to push the blood through the aorta. It is a type of congenital condition that is detected in adulthood and occurs in the ductus arteriosus. Through a literature review, the epidemiology and etiology of the adult with coarctation of the aorta (CoA) will be discussed, describing the embryology, anatomy, patho-physiology, and clinical presentation to properly recognize and diagnose an adult patient with CoA. This research will also review diag...
