The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the consequences of a departure from the present systems of pricing urban transport, to a system of marginal cost pricing. The application of marginal cost pricing can reduce the volume of resources required for urban transport facilities. The need to economise investment is critical in view of the estimate of future transport requirements of Australian cities
